Community Hospice Staff Nurse

St Teresa’s Hospice, Darlington is seeking a Staff Nurse to join our Community Hospice Team, based at our Darlington Hospice.

15.5 hours per week/2 shifts in total. Candidates may apply for either one or two shifts per week.

Usual shift pattern of 7.75hr shifts on a rota (8.25hr shifts with a 30min unpaid break): 07:00-15:15, 15:00-23:15, and 23:00-07:15

St Teresa’s Hospice Band 5, equivalent hourly rate of £13.43 - £13.97 plus enhanced rates for unsociable hours.

NHS pension available for existing members; other pension schemes available for non-NHS scheme members.

We are a forward thinking, inclusive registered Charity with in patient unit, outpatient and community services, providing care and support to palliative patients and their families in their own homes and at St Teresa’s Hospice.

As the nurse on duty for our 24/7 Rapid Response service, the successful candidate will be based at St Teresa’s Hospice, responding to calls for urgent support in patients’ own homes and in community settings, providing high quality nursing care to patients with palliative and long-term conditions, including support for those approaching end of life.

Usually based on the Rapid Response service, the successful candidate will also be required to work across all Hospice services as needed, including Inpatient Unit, Hospice at Home and Homecare teams.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Current NMC registration as a registered nurse
  • Post registration experience working at NHS Agenda for Change Band 5 (or equivalent) or above in a nursing role, and professional experience of palliative care
  • Willingness to undertake work during the day, evening and at night and work across all hospices services as required

Successful applicants are required to provide an enhanced disclosure. Disclosure expense will be met by St Teresa’s Hospice. All posts are subject to a six month probationary period.

This vacancy is open to both internal and external applicants. Please note, for business reasons, we are unable to consider applications for internal applicants to increase contracted hours to more than 31hrs per week in total.
