The East Riding of Yorkshire Council adult services are looking for a qualified HCPC registered Occupational Therapist or a specialist Occupational Therapist to join their dynamic and evolving Social Services Disability Resource Team.  These posts are being created to support the Active Recovery Service as part of the Improved Better Care Fund which aims to prevent admission to hospital and facilitate discharges from hospitals, providing Re ablement/ Active Recovery Services in hub beds and the community. The Posts are temporary funded until March 2021.


You will also be involved in the everyday occupational therapy service of the Disability Resource which is a varied role and includes home assessments for adults and some children to provide minor and major adaptations, specialist moving and handling assessments and equipment to promote independence.  We also provide blue badge independent mobility assessments and there are also opportunities to work with clients in our local prisons. Using an holistic approach as an occupational therapists we aim to maximise the clients potential and recognise the communities strengths to prevent dependency on social care.


Occupational Therapist Grade 9 (£28,785) or Specialist Occupational Therapist Grade 10 (£32,029 which has a market supplement £34,788).  Grade is dependent on experience.  The occupational therapist post has opportunities to progress to a specialist once competencies have be attained and considered.  Where possible we will offer a novice occupational therapist to rotate across Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust acute trust to enhance their practice.


As a Specialist Occupational Therapist Scale we are looking for experience in reablement, home adaptations and Disability Facilities Grants, complex moving and handling assessments along with excellent clinical reasoning skills to provide efficient and effective clinical decisions whilst providing a positive service user experience.


Successful candidates will receive a comprehensive induction package.  Part time hours and job share will be considered.


The East Riding is committed to supporting staff by regular supervision, training and opportunities for clinical development.


The East Riding of Yorkshire is a rural county of 1000sq miles therefore it is essential that the successful candidates are able to travel across the whole of the county.
