West and Mid Wales - Marie Curie Nursing Service

Marie Curie is the first organisation in Wales to launch this new and unique award-winning service, supporting patients suffering with both dementia and a terminal illness. As a result, Marie Curie has created this unique and exciting opportunity and this is your chance to showcase your passion, energy and drive for working with dementia patients, alongside really influencing, shaping and improving their care during end of life.

This is a rare and new opportunity for a senior clinical nurse to provide clinical leadership and professional line management to a team of remote clinical staff, acting as a supportive and flexible manager to ensure the delivery of the Dementia Service in line with the Marie Curie Nursing Service strategy across West and Mid Wales.

Working alongside the Regional Manager, you will develop the Dementia Service based on local needs and manage your team, ensuring that the right workforce is available and trained to deliver quality, safe care to patients living with a terminal illness with dementia as either a primary or secondary diagnosis. You will assume responsibility for the management of any clinical incidents and work within the Charity's clinical governance framework in order to achieve targets.

A confident communicator, calm decision maker and member of the wider multi-disciplinary team, you will need plenty of experience and knowledge of working in dementia care, and some palliative or community care experience is desirable but not essential. Together with well-developed assessment and planning skills, your ability to prioritise your work, juggling a variety of changing demands, whilst speedily accessing the right care and support is vital.

You must be willing to travel across the county to patients' homes, hospitals and other venues to plan and review care requirements, working with other professionals involved in their care. A full driving licence with access to a car is essential. So, if you are able to work independently, are flexible and have the knowledge and confidence to promote and deliver this amazing new dementia service, Marie Curie wants to hear from you.

A Registered Nurse with Level 1 registration and a relevant post-registration qualification, you should possess recent experience in Dementia care and proven experience of remotely managing a large clinical team. A thorough understanding of the specific needs of patients in the EOL phase, together with a firm understanding of community working, is also required.
