Applications are invited for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Nephrology. The post will be to commence as soon as possible for 12 months.

This post would suit a dynamic doctor planning a career in Nephrology who wishes to gain further experience of renal medicine at registrar level. The successful applicants will be expected to assist in the running of nephrology services within the Lister Hospital, including in-patient and out-patient management of renal patients. They will work at registrar level will participate in the renal registrar on call rota.

Experience in renal medicine at core level is essential.

The post holder will work under the supervision of the consultant nephrologists to provide day-to-day care of patients on the nephrology ward, in the Hemodialysis Unit and CAPD Unit, and attending renal clinics in the Lister Hospital. There will also be duties at the satellite units as rostered. The appointee will be encouraged to contribute to audit and research activities in the unit. The post-holder will participate in the renal on call rota and potentially some general medicine on call.

Following the investment of £150 million in major new facilities at the Lister, along with a £30 million New QEII hospital built by the local clinical commissioning group, the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust has brought together all its specialist emergency and inpatient services at the Stevenage hospital. Our state-of–the-art clinical facilities include a major new Emergency Department, the Hertfordshire Cardiology Centre (which includes a 24/7 PPCI service), new scanning centre, McMillan chemotherapy unit, ward, endoscopy and theatre blocks.
