Ward 34

The Radbourne Unit

We have an opportunity for the right person to join our happy, enthusiastic and dynamic team as a Lead Nurse.

Ward 34 is a busy 20 bedded male acute admissions ward delivering high standards of care to adults suffering from and experiencing an acute phase of their mental illness from Derby and Derbyshire.

The applicant is required to be dynamic, organised, enthusiastic and motivated with evidence of continued professional development. You will need excellent communication and assessment skills and be able to use your initiative and keep calm in a busy and unpredictable environment.

The successful applicant will assist the Ward Manager in the provision of clinical leadership, driving up and maintaining quality care whilst being a positive clinical role model. This will provide an ideal opportunity to extend your skill base in clinical leadership and ward management, with opportunities to become involved in a variety of work streams including recruitment, service and staff development and audit.

This role will require you to work across a 24/7 rota which will include night duties; flexible working requests will be considered.

The post holder will receive regular supervision and have access to relevant training courses to support your personal and professional development.

DBS Check
The cost of undertaking a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) disclosure will be met by the individual. The Trust will meet the initial costs of the disclosure which will be deducted from your first month’s salary. The current price of a standard check is £23 and an enhanced check is £40.

We are obliged to check employment history for at least the past 3 years for successful candidates. Please ensure that the referees you provide us cover at least the past 3 years of your employment/training.

PLEASE NOTE, OUR SALARY SCALES ARE INCREMENTAL, AND STAFF NEW TO THE NHS WILL USUALLY START AT THE BOTTOM POINT OF THE PAYSCALE ADVERTISED.
