Quality Manager - Genomics Laboratory

Band 7, 37.5hours per week, full time

 

In response to NHS England’s recent Strategy and Service Specification for the future of Genomics services in England, Newcastle Teaching Hospitals, Leeds Teaching Hospitals, Sheffield Children’s Trust and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals have formed the Yorkshire and North East Genomics Laboratory Hub; an exciting collaboration to provide services for Genomics across Yorkshire and Humber and the North. The combined size of our geography makes this the largest collaboration in the country with the Trusts offering a range of both general and specialist hospital services with excellent clinical outcomes for patients. We have an international reputation for excellence in specialist care, research and academic training.

We are now looking to recruit to permanent Band 7 Quality Manager post based at Yorkshire and North East Genomic Laboratory Hub (Y&NE GLH) Central Laboratory based at St James’s University Hospital in Leeds. This post will work as part of the GLH quality team and there will be some travel across the GLH geography:

 

The role responsibilities include:

  • To lead the department’s Quality Management System. The jobholder will contribute towards overall service improvement by participation in and the implementation of departmental policy development and by active participation in a range of people governance procedures consistent with Trust policies.

  • To participate in the training of support, technical, scientific and medical staff as is necessary for the service.

If you are offered a position, you may be required to undertake a DBS. The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £48 or Standard £30) from your salary over a 3 month period (including Internal staff). You will also be required to participate in the DBS Update Service and pay the £13 cost per year. This is a condition of your employment. DBS checks for volunteers are free.

LTHT will request electronic Factual Employment References from your previous employers. These references will be requested before you are issued with an unconditional offer of employment letter.
