Support Secretary

We have a post for a Medical Support Secretary who wishes to develop their skills within our busy department. Successful candidates will be trained to undertake a variety of administrative roles to support the secretarial team such as updating Pathology Reports, dealing with tissue blocks and slides, data entry and liaising with external contacts. You will be the first point of contact in the department for visitors and telephone enquiries and will assist in the preparation of material for multi-disciplinary team meetings.

You will be a flexible, well-organised, and methodical person who is able to use a variety of different computer packages and systems and will have the opportunity to work independently as well as part of a team. The interview will include a practical office based assessment.

The role requires working as part of a secretarial team within Pathology, the main duties of the posts will be to provide support to the senior Medical Secretaries and, in the absence of colleagues, you should be flexible in order to undertake work from Consultants and deputise as may be required.

You must possess excellent communication and secretarial skills, including word processing and audio-typing. The ability to effectively organise workload is essential. Knowledge of the Lorenzo, Ice and Molis computer systems and digital dictation plus medical terminology would be desirable but training can be provided for the right candidate.

A charge of £60 (Enhanced) will be made by the successful candidate which will be deducted from the first 3 months’ salary. In addition to this, you will also be required to re-pay any future costs that may arise in relation to DBS fees.
