We are seeking to appoint an Associate Director of Public Health to help us make a real difference to the health and wellbeing of Hampshire and Isle of Wight residents.  


Reporting to our Director of Public Health, you will shape the delivery of Public Health, help us tackle challenging areas of need and drive improvements across the system.

With the freedom to act innovatively, you will lead, develop and implement new public health strategies for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. You will also be responsible for transforming our public health services making them fit for the future. Uniquely, in this role you will work with an Island community, supporting it to grow and thrive. This includes specific responsibility for managing the IOW Public Health team.


Working across the wider system with NHS and Sustainability and Transformation Partnership colleagues, it is important you have three years’ experience in public health practice at a senior level, including two years working as a Consultant in, or closely with, local authorities.

Our office based in the historic city of Winchester is highly accessible from the south of England, including parts of London. In this position, you will gain experience of working in an upper tier authority, a unitary authority and across different health and care systems. Hampshire is England’s third largest county (1.32m people) and has 11 districts. The Isle of Wight has a population of 141,000.
