Applications are invited for a locum consultant paediatric intensivist to join our current team of seven intensivists at St. George’s Hospital. We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic individuals who will help us to continue to develop our service. The PICU at St. George’s Hospital has 12 beds. We have seen a sustained rise in our activity and these posts have been put in place to make the increase in workload sustainable.

The unit primarily manages children with trauma & orthopaedics, oncology, surgical, neurosurgical, infectious disease, respiratory and general paediatric disorders. St George’s is a paediatric major trauma centre with a helipad.

The PICU team also work closely with other specialist paediatric services including neurology, genetics, ophthalmology, ENT, plastic surgery, endocrinology, gastroenterology, radiology and new-born services. Cardiac, renal and hepatic cases are managed elsewhere in the network. We offer all levels of paediatric intensive care up to extracorporeal support. We have a comprehensive children’s service which provide local and tertiary paediatric services.

St. George’s is a one of the largest teaching hospitals in the UK and is affiliated with St. George’s, University of London and Medical School. It is a major centre for clinical care, teaching and research. The hospital and medical school are based on the same campus in Tooting, South West London and an area that has seen rapid gentrification over the last decade with quick and easy transport links to central London.
