We are looking for an experienced Speech & Language Therapist to join our service to work into the SheffieldFostering Service.

This post will involve working with children and young people with communication and SEMH needsas well as their carers andfamilies.

The successful candidate will have significant clinical experience that includes working with children and young people with SEMH across a range of settings, and multi-disciplinary team working. They will be able to demonstrate excellent joint-working skills, with the ability to work flexibly and problem-solve at a high level to develop a specialist area of the service.

The post will involve:

• Being part of a multi-disciplinary team providing information, carrying out specialist assessment and liaising with professionals to support Aspire service-users.

• Providing specialist speech and language therapy support in the Fostering serviceand to families accessing the service.

• Running training packages to support staff to manage the communication needs of the service users.

• Contributing to the development of the service for children and young people with SEMH difficulties within the FosteringService.

The post holder will be responsible to the Mainstream Schools Team Leaders but will also receive professional leadership from other council-commissioned professionals.

Sheffield Speech & Language Therapy operates on a city wide basis. It is committed to providing a high quality service and offers excellent opportunities for development. All therapists are required to undertake supervision and a programme of continuous professional development, which forms part of the individual performance review system.

Applicants will be registered with the HCPC and Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists (UK). Due to the nature of the post, applicants must have access to their own transport.

In line with other NHS Organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber Region a successful candidate appointed into a post within this Trust will be required to pay the DBS check fee (£45). This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
