Occupational Therapist

Base: Derby City Rotational OT Programme

Areas include : Radbourne Unit and Dovedale/Midway Day Hospitals.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated Band 5 Occupational Therapist to work as part of a rotation across two different mental health areas , spending 9 months in each of the following areas:

  1. Radbourne Unit, Hope and Resilience Hub is an acute adult mental health inpatient unit and a Hope and Resilience Hub for adults recovering from an acute phase of their mental illness. The OT team work very closely with the multidisciplinary teams across the unit to provide therapeutic meaningful activities to support individual’s recovery. Committed to delivering high quality, person centred care. They are an evolving and award winning team which is developing new ways of working with service users and carers.
  2. Dovedale and Midway Day Hospitals are well established day hospital services providing assessment and treatment for people with dementia and people over the age of 65 with mental health needs. The Team prides itself on delivering excellent quality care and the post would suit someone with drive and an ambition to contribute to enabling individuals to recover their mental health and/or achieve the optimum health possible. The Occupational Therapist would be expected to facilitate a range of therapeutic groups and manage a small caseload of patients, completing holistic assessments and adopting a person centred approach with our service users and carers.

This post will start the rotation in the Derby City Working Age Adult Community Team.

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who is highly motivated, passionate about enabling recovery and wellbeing in mental health and dedicated to working alongside the current teams. You will be expected to contribute to the continued development of the team through MDT work, development of skills, a caring attitude and an ability to provide a positive role model to other team members.

There may be the opportunity that the rotation may expand in the future as further new posts are identified. If this occurs we will be able to offer other settings and this will be negotiated as and if this arises.

DBS Check
The cost of undertaking a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) disclosure will be met by the individual. The Trust will meet the initial costs of the disclosure which will be deducted from your first month’s salary. The current price of a standard check is £23 and an enhanced check is £40.
