QE Facilities (QEF) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust (GHNT), based in the North East of England.

We provide a range of non- clinical services to GHNT and other NHS organisations. Our services include: estates, facilities services, procurement, medical engineering and devices, endoscopy decontamination and sterile services, transport, out-patient pharmacy, and prevention & management of violence & aggression training (PMVA). In addition we provide consultancy services, advising clients on all aspects of establishing a subsidiary company within an NHS body to the provision of VAT compliance advice.

Part Time Health & Safety Advisor.

Salary: £37,267 pro rata [£18,633.50]

Hours: 18.75 hours per week

Base location: Gateshead QE Hospital

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified Health & Safety Advisor to join the Risk Team at QE Facilities Limited.

This post is based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead however you will be required to carry out work at other sites operated by QE Facilities which may involve occasional overnight stay and occasional out of hours working.

As a health and safety advisor- practitioner, you will be responsible for driving a safe working culture preventing/reducing accidents, injuries and health problems in the workplace. Your role will see you promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the Group ensuring that employees and contractors are adhering to current health and safety legislation by creating and implementing health and safety audits, developing and presenting H&S training, reviewing and developing suitable policies, advising on safe working practices and assessments of risk as well as providing professional Health and Safety advise and support.

The work will focus on the delivery of H&S advice for Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust, covering a variety of areas both clinical and none clinical and all relevant workplace legislation applicable to the environment.

You will work closely withother members of the risk team as well as both the estates and facilities teams as well as all levels of healthcare professionals and management. You may also have some contact with patients and external legal and governing bodies e.g. HSE, CQC.

Must be able to work and act on your own initiative with minimum supervision and possess the ability to work and communicate effectively in a pleasant manner with all other members of staff, patients and visitors across the QE Facilities remit.
