Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.

The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire and Sefton area. The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,000 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites.


 

 

Job Title: Specialist Speech & Language Therapist (Adults)

Are you a Speech and Language Therapist looking for an opportunity to widen your experience or develop specialist skills in working with Adults with acquired communication or swallowing difficulties?

 

Lancashire and South Cumbria Foundation NHS Trust have a vacancy for a Speech and Language Therapist to work within our Community Team based in Southport and Formby.

 

The successful post holder will join an established multidisciplinary team based at Zetland Street.

 

The post involves:

  • sessions working as a member of the Community Neuro Rehabilitation Team delivering domiciliary based therapy to patients with neurological conditions (including Stroke) living in the Southport and Formby area.

 

  • Out-patient sessions working in the Southport Centre for Health and Wellbeing delivering care to a variety of patients including those with disorders of voice, dysfluency and head and neck cancers.

 

  • Domiciliary sessions for patients with dementia and other non-neurological dysphagia.

 

Ideally you should be an independent dysphagia practitioner and will need to have experience of multi disciplinary working. Experience of working with all of the above client groups is not essential but the successful applicant should be keen to develop appropriate knowledge and skills in these areas and will be assisted by other team members to do so.

 

We will also consider applicants at a Band 5 level either newly qualified or who have already gained some experience working as a Band 5 SLT. There will be an opportunity for applicants recruited to the post at a Band 5 to progress to a Band 6 post after appropriate competencies have been met.

 

The department is committed to supporting your professional development and you’ll have regular performance review, supervision and the opportunity for further training as appropriate. There will be an expectation that you will actively participate in student placements. HCPC registration and an ability to transport yourself around the locality is essential.
