Mental Health Liaison Practitioner, Band 6


We have a vacancy for a band 6 Liaison Psychiatry Nurse (LPN) in the older adult’s mental health liaison team. We are based in the Queen Elizabeth hospital and provide support for patients in the emergency department and on the inpatient wards.

This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic, proactive and caring team. The post is part time at 22.5hrs/3 days a week and entails working shifts on a rota basis, Monday to Friday 8am-4pm, 9-5 or 12 - 8 pm and 9-5 on weekends.

The team assesses and advises on the most appropriate treatment and management plans for people over the age of 65 who have a mental health issue. We also support patient who access the Eltham Community hospital.

The successful applicant will have an understanding of the nature and impact of mental health issues particular in relation to older people. You will need to have excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and work proactively and flexibly within the team. You will need to be skilled in mental health assessments and have a clear understanding of assessing and managing risk.

You will need to have the relevant experience as a qualified mental health nurse and experience of working with older adults would be an advantage but not essential.
