Junior Clinical Fellow post in Obs & Gynae

Within the Obs and Gynae department at the QE Hospital Gateshead an opportunity has arisen for a locum full time junior clinical fellow post in Obs and Gynae (equivalent to SHO/F3) commencing August 2020. The post is initially for six months but there may be an option to extend this to twelve months. This post offers excellent clinical experience in a supportive Obs and Gynae Unit.

This post would suit anyone interested in pursuing a career in Obs and Gynae or General Practice. Although this post cannot be counted towards specialist training requirements, the post holder will have the same access to clinical & educational supervision, study leave and other learning opportunities as is available to approved training post holders in the department.

Informal enquiries should be made to Mr Ian Aird (Acting Clinical Lead) on 0191 445 3246.

Applicants who have not been contacted within 4 weeks of the closing date are to assume that their application has been unsuccessful.

Applications are welcomed from candidates who may require sponsorship through the UK Border Agency to work in the UK. However, those candidates must be aware that appointment to the post may not be considered if a suitably qualified experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available and/or the post does not attract sufficient points. During the interview process, all candidates will be requested to provide appropriate original documentation to ensure their legal right to work in the UK may be verified.

Candidates who require sponsorship are strongly advised to visit the UK Border Agency website and familiarise themselves with what is required. There is a facility on this site to access the points based calculator and work through an example which should assist candidates in their understanding of the process.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require current Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the current Resident Labour Market Test which will be in place until the end of December 2020. UK Visas and Immigration requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, have had to present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) are also subject to this requirement.
