NHS Blood and Transplant has an exciting opportunity for a highly organised, forward thinking individual, with proven experience in an information governance role to join the organisation as part of a dynamic team in the role of Senior Information Governance Officer.

NHS Blood and Transplant provide a blood and transplantation service to the NHS, looking after blood donation services in England and transplant services across the UK.This includes managing the donation, storage and transplantation of blood, organs, tissues, bone marrow and stem cells, and researching new treatments and processes.

It is essential that organisational information is managed appropriately and the post holder will assist the Information Governance Team in delivering an effective service to support the Information Governance agenda. The overriding objective is to ensure all areas of the organisation use information appropriately and NHSBT are able to meet their statutory and legal obligation whilst achieving the overall aim to save and improve lives.

 

The role

We are currently seeking a driven, efficient and organised Senior Information Governance Officer to join our Information Governance team. You will report to the Information Systems Security Manager and work closely with internal teams to deliver the information governance agenda. Such duties will include overseeing day to day IG queries and leading the Records Management agenda.

 

You will play a key role in ensuring NHSBT meets all legal requirements and NHS Policy in connection with confidentiality and security of personal information and the management of organisational information.

 

 

About you

 

The successful applicant must have prior experience within an Information Governance environment and the ability to work on their own initiative.

 

Working in a challenging environment, you will be faced with a variety of competing priorities that will require a flexible and imaginative approach, combined with excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.

 

The post holder needs to an enthusiastic individual with the skills, knowledge and understanding of all information governance and Data Protection requirements, the relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks and the NHS Data Security & Protection Toolkit.

This role has the flexibility to be based at any of our sites across England, including Bristol, Barnsley (initially Sheffield or Leeds), Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, or London.

NHSBT is a unique organisation, your role will be to provide advice, guidance and support to all areas of NHSBT including Blood Donation Services, the Organ Donation and TAS services, this will include working with other NHS organisations, researchers and universities.
