Our Emergency department provides assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients with emergency conditions, serious injuries or illnesses as well as minor injuries. It is a very busy department, with 78,000 patients being treated in the past 12 months. We are looking for experienced Sisters/Charge Nurses to join our dynamic and supportive team as Senior Sisters or Charge Nurses to help us to further develop our services and provide the highest standards of patient care.

As a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse you will be responsible for effectively supporting and leading staff to ensure high quality care is delivered to all our patients who attend the Emergency Department. You will be expected to leading the department clinically by undertaking the Nurse in Charge role, co-ordinating, delegating and supervising the management and planning of nursing care whilst maintaining patient safety. The successful candidate will act as a role model of expert clinical practice and will be confident to challenge practice so that the best and most appropriate treatment is given to every patient. The Senior Sister/Charge Nurse will also support the senior management team, undertaking key projects and proactively identifying areas for improving nursing practice and service delivery.

The successful applicant will be required to work and manage all areas within the department and demonstrate a professional manner and clinical expertise with good communication skills in all aspects of their work. You must be comfortable working in a busy environment juggling the different demands typical of a nursing role like this and must possess the courage to do what is right for our patients.

Current employees should be aware that this position is advertised as a GWH position and appointment ends any TUPE protection.

All candidates are required to pay for their own DBS check where applicable. Standard DBS check costs £26 and will be recovered from your first pay; Enhanced DBS check costs £44 and will be split and recovered over the first 2 pay.

Bank posts requiring a DBS check; payment must be made prior to commencing.

Apprentices are exempt from payment.
