Rota Co-Ordinator

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and highly organised individual to join our Orthopaedic administration team within Surgical Specialties to provide 12 months maternity cover for our Rota Coordinator.

 

The Rota Coordinator will lead and coordinate the Consultant and Junior Doctor rotas, whilst working in a supportive environment. The role has been developed to improve and support the working lives of our clinical teams with respect to on call rota management, rostered opportunity to attend education events to meet training requirements, allocation on the wards and leave requests.

 

You would be expected to co-ordinate junior doctor rotas to meet the requirements of the Trust and the end users, ensure the junior doctors are compliant with European Working Time Directive and training requirements, and manage and co-ordinate mandatory training and appraisals, day to day administrative duties aligned with the role including the monitoring of annual leave and sick leave. Strengths essential to the role would include the ability to work independently utilising own skills and initiative without the need for supervision in an organised, efficient and effective manner in order to maximize the use of own time. Post holders are expected to be flexible in their approach to meet the needs of the service. Knowledge and experience working within the medical sector, a familiarity with medical computer systems, understanding of the grading of doctors and experience working within a similar role is desirable but not essential as full training will be given to the right candidate.

 

This position is part time at 17 hours per week over three days and will be based at Warrington Hospital though may include an element of cross site working between Warrington Hospital and the CMTC at Halton on occasion. This role is a temporary contract to cover maternity leave and would suit someone looking for experience in rota management as a secondment or as additional hours to their current role. As part of the interview there will be a short Excel related activity/assessment.

 

We are looking for someone who is conscientious and a strong team player, someone who understands the importance of data confidentiality and is comfortable communicating with both service users and all grades of staff. A charge of £60 (Enhanced) will be made by the successful candidate which will be deducted from the first 3 months’ salary. In addition to this, you will also be required to re-pay any future costs that may arise in relation to DBS fees.
