An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced children's nurse to join the children's outpatients department. Within our purpose built facilities we are able to care for patients with congenital heart disease from before birth to adulthood. Our outpatients clinics cover both cardiology and surgical patients and run from 08.30 am until 18.00. The service is currently provided at Glenfield hospital.

As part of the NHS England Specification and Standards for Coronary Heart Disease services in England and Wales, we are required to have Children’s Congenital Heart services on the same site as other Children's services.

The project to move the Children’s Congenital Heart Service from Glenfield hospital to the Leicester Royal Infirmary is underway in order to meet this requirement progresses and it is planned that the service will move in December 2020.

We are looking for candidates who are motivated, enthusiastic, dynamic and looking for a new challenge . Paediatric cardiology provides exciting nursing challenges and we can promise you a varied and in depth role which will give you an opportunity to broaden and advance your expertise in a busy but supportive environment.

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure best outcomes for children with a broad range of cardiology conditions. You will provide practical advice and support for children and their families, and have the opportunity to further develop your own knowledge and skills in this specialist area.

You must be flexible, possess excellent communication, assessment and organisational skills. You will need to demonstrate experience in supporting families and the ability to work independently, taking ownership and responsibility for your work.
