Applications are invited for a full time Consultant appointment based at University Hospitals Bristol, In the future, the department will work with the South West Genomic Medicine Service Alliance, currently in development.. The post-holder will contribute to the general work of the department, including the on call rota for urgent referrals. A speciality interest, to complement existing expertise within the consultant team, is welcome.

The Department of Clinical Genetics at UHB has been providing specialist adult and paediatric genetic services since 1989. Our team includes seven consultants, two specialist registrars, genetic counsellors and a dedicated administrative team. There are close clinical and academic links with many departments within the hospital, including well-established cardiac and other MDT meetings. Peripheral clinics are provided across the region in South Bristol, Bath, Taunton, Yeovil and Gloucester.

This post offers the opportunity to work in a developing department within a major teaching and research hospital, with close links to the highly regarded University of Bristol Medical School, which is adjacent to the hospital site. The appointee to this post will be expected to demonstrate intent to contribute to the clinical developments in the service and to teaching, research and innovation.

The appointee should hold a CCT in Clinical Genetics. A relevant postgraduate qualification or evidence of research relevant to the specialty interest would also be desirable.
