Call Assessor- start dates within the next 8 weeks

Salary: The training salary attached to this post will be National Minimum Wage for those over the age of 25 (£8.21 per hour) or 75% top of Band 3 £15,596.25 for those 24 & under.

Upon successful completion of your training period (approx. 2-4 months) the salary will be Band 3 £18,813 (pro rata for part time hours) plus any unsocial hours enhancements relevant to the post as per the NHS Terms & Conditions

Hours: Full & Part Time hours available however please note that all applicants will be required to attend a full time (37.5 hours per week) training course for the first 4 weeks of their employment

The majority of the working hours for this post are classed as out of office and as a 24/7 service, we require applicants to work full rotational shifts including evenings, weekends, nights and bank holidays and therefore you must be 18 years old or over to apply.

Our award-winning, high performing ambulance service has embarked on an exciting journey providing the NHS 111 service across the majority of the West Midlands region.

We are therefore recruiting Call Assessors to join our team at our Operations Centre in Brierley Hill who are able to commence employment with the Trust within the next 8 weeks.

The post holders will be the first point of contact for anyone who requires urgent or emergency assistance. You will be responsible for the receipt and processing incoming and outgoing urgent and emergency calls from the general public, medical staff, emergency services and other professional bodies who require an emergency ambulance, advice or information.

Successful applicants will initially be working in our 111 operations centre with the long term plan of becoming dual qualified to also take 999 calls and to work across both of our sites in Brierley Hill.

Applicants must have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s at Grade C or above which must include English & Maths (or equivalent qualifications) along with call taking experience.

This position involves a regulated activity which will require an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check. The disclosure will, where appropriate to the role, include information against the Independent Safeguarding Authority barred lists for working with children, adults or both.

Where a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check is required for the post, applicants are required to cover the cost of the check. The cost (£49 for an enhanced check) is payable to our online provider at the time that the DBS application is submitted.
