GP Lead – Urgent Care Centre

Applications are invited for a new role within the urgent care centre based at GWH, the GP lead role has been created to improve links with the Emergency Department and the Way Forward programme (leading on the restructure and redesign of our front door services).

The GP Lead will work closely with the Emergency Medicine and Way Forward programme teams to ensure the delivery of high quality, effective and safe patient care within the Urgent Care centre based at Great Western Hospital in Swindon. In addition to their own patient caseload, the post holder will have responsibility for implementing policies and procedures, resolving issues as they arise and escalating serious or systemic concerns for further discussion.

The GP Lead will provide credible and visible leadership to colleagues within the Urgent Care Centre (and transition to Urgent Treatment Centre), as well as our wider primary care workforce in the community and secondary care advising the Medical Director and Board as required on issues relating to the Urgent Care Centre workforce.

The Great Western Hospital, is an attractive modern building set in beautiful surroundings on the outskirts of Swindon, just 5 mins from jct 15 of the M4 motorway. Swindon has brilliant travel links and is less than 1 hour way from both London and Bristol. There is also an excellent recently refurbished nursery on the hospital site. Current employees should be aware that this position is advertised as a GWH position and appointment ends any TUPE protection.

All candidates are required to pay for their own DBS check where applicable. Standard DBS check costs £26 and will be recovered from your first pay; Enhanced DBS check costs £44 and will be split and recovered over the first 2 pay.

Bank posts requiring a DBS check; payment must be made prior to commencing.

Apprentices are exempt from payment.
