Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedics with Special Interest In Upper Limb Surgery

The Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a consultant with a specialist interest in upper limb to join the dynamic, award-winning Trauma and Orthopaedic team. The appointment (10PAs) will be made in accordance with the new consultant contract terms and conditions. The post-holder will be required to participate in an on-call consultant trauma rota.

Full Registration with the GMC is essential. Applicants are required to be on the Specialist Register, have CCT (or equivalent) or be within six months of obtaining it by the interview date.

The hospital is conveniently placed on the outskirts of Swindon near junction 15 of the M4, 75 miles from London and 35 miles from Bristol. It is in the midst of beautiful countryside sitting at the foot of the Marlborough Downs and just south of the Cotswold’s.

All new starters with the Trust will be subject to a six month probationary period, with the exception of medical and dental candidates.

Current employees should be aware that this position is advertised as a GWH position and appointment ends any TUPE protection.

All candidates are required to pay for their own DBS check where applicable. Standard DBS check costs £26 and will be recovered from your first pay; Enhanced DBS check costs £44 and will be split and recovered over the first 2 pay.

Bank posts requiring a DBS check; payment must be made prior to commencing.

Apprentices are exempt from payment.
