Pearson ward vision-

‘To treat patients well enough so that they can leave, to treat staff well enough so they don’t want to leave’

The Medicine and Emergency Care Division has an exciting secondment opportunity for a senior nurse to lead Pearson ward during a period of maternity leave.

The required cover period will be for 14 months to allow for a handover of the role, with an expected 12 month maternity absence.

Pearson ward integrated two new specialities in January this year; Frailty and Respiratory, therefore an enthusiastic individual is required to continue to develop these specialities within the ward environment, working with the multi-disciplinary team to provide an excellent in-patient service. The individual will also be enthusiastic in providing development opportunities in Frailty and Respiratory for the enthusiastic team already formed on Pearson ward.

The successful candidate will have experience in both operational and clinical knowledge in the acute medical care setting and ensure delivery of safe, effective, well led, responsive, high quality care to patients in a professional and compassionate way.

The Band 7 role requires an individual with resilience, drive and passion for maintaining effective communication and supporting staff of all levels in the delivery of high quality, safe and effective patient care. You will be an effective communicator and have the vision to proactively manage the already established team.

The successful applicant will have good clinical knowledge and must be flexible as the role will require out of hours and weekend working. They will also have experience in management responsibilities, including managing sickness absence, HR issues, E-Roster, safe staffing, staff appraisals, and complaints as well as day to day operational overview of a ward.
