Advanced Prescribing Practitioner

Salary: Indicative Band 8a £44,606-£50,819 plus any unsocial hours enhancements relevant to the post as per the NHS Terms & Conditions 2018 (pro rata for part time hours)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week – full & part time positions available (Minimum of 12 hours per week with the majority of shifts covering evenings, nights and weekends)

To further build on the work already done in 111 and our established infrastructure within the wider organisation and to ensure that our patients receive the excellent standard of care that we strive to deliver and that they have come to expect from our Trust, we are asking experienced dual qualified Nurse / Paramedic/ Pharmacist applicants who also share this passion for patient care to join us and help us to achieve our vision.

Based at our Operations Centres in Brierley Hill, you will assist in the provision of a quality service to patients contacting 111 and the Clinical Assessment Service.The role requires you to function autonomously and within your sphere of competency within a multi-skilled team. You must be able to – via the telephone - assess patients, plan their care, administer treatment and discharge them or refer them as appropriate to other healthcare professionals / external agencies. This will include prescribing for patients as required. The role requires an individual to have the ability to work effectively as part of a multi professional team within a fast pace environment, in line with WMAS protocols and policies.

Applicants must be 1st level Registered Nurse with current registration with the UK Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) OR HCPC registration as a Paramedic OR registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council with proven post registration experience of working in any of these following clinical areas…

  • Accident & Emergency
  • Primary Care Environments
  • Minor Injuries / Illness Units
  • Acute Specialities at a Senior Level.

You must be able to work well under pressure, have excellent communication skills in addition to having a wealth of clinical experience.

Successful candidates must be able to commit to 5 days classroom based training upon commencement.
