A fantastic opportunity has arisen for for Band 4 Cancer Navigators to join the following teams in:

  • Breast Care
  • Urology
  • Colorectal
  • Gynaecology

here at Macclesfield District General Hospital. 

The Band 4 Cancer Navigator is responsible for communicating with patients and relevant departments to ensure all investigations are performed in a timely manner; either at the start of the pathway or during follow up.  The navigator will establish the patients concerns; help with non-clinical questions and signpost to other services when necessary. If the question is of a clinical nature they will book a telephone appointment for the Clinical Nurse Specialist to call back the patient or their relative. The navigator service works closely with the clinical teams to ensure they can provide the right support for patients and their families.  The post holder will also assist the Macmillan Cancer Nurses with their daily workload as well as helping with data collection.

The successful candidate will become a highly valued member of the MDT and have the opportunity to develop their skills. The ideal candidate will have experience of working with or supporting patients or clients with complex needs, a good understanding of cancer and advanced communication skills. 

The posts are:

  • Breast Care - 37.5 hours per week, permanent
  • Urology - 37.5 hours per week, fixed term for 12 months
  • Colorectal - 22.5 hours per week, permanent
  • Gynaecology - 37.5 hours per week, fixed term for 12 months
