Consultant in the CAMHS Community Crisis Service

Working across either East or West Surrey – locality base can be negotiated as we have bases in Redhill, Epsom, Chertsey, Frimley and Guildford. Locality preferences to be discussed at interview.

We are excited to be offering this opportunity to join our CAMHS Community Crisis Team. These jobs are new and an opportunity to shape and design the role.

We are looking for 2 Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists to join and complement our team that has been building and establishing itself for over a year. Our Surrey wide Crisis Service works across the 4 CAMHS Community Team localities as well as the 5 District General Hospitals (DGH) within Surrey. This is a great time to come on board and help us to develop and enhance our offer to children and young people across Surrey who are in crisis.

The Team comprise of a General Manager, a band 7 Clinical Lead and a team of band 6 crisis intervention workers. You would be based in West or East Surrey covering referrals from CAMHS Single point of Access (SPA), CAMHS CT or the DGHs. You will work closely with your team as well as colleagues in DGHs, Hope Service and CAMHS CT.

The CAMHS Community Crisis Serviceteam have undertakentrainingcovering DBT Skills and the Assessment and Risk Assessment ofchildren andadolescents in Crisis via APT and we would like to offer this opportunity to you.

You may also be involved in Mental Health Act assessments following Section 136 presentations to Farnham Road Hospital, Guildford – these are mainly carried out by the Hope Service Consultant who only works 3 days per week. We particularly welcome psychiatrists with a strong interest in medical education and/or research, and would support people’s interests in those roles. For newly appointed Consultants mentorship is available and promoted. There are established CPD groups and peer group meetings, as well as scope for supervising GP/Psychiatry trainees and teaching opportunities for medical students.

Please note that all salaries shown are based on whole time of 37.5 hours per week for non-medical roles and 40 hours per week for medical roles, part time roles are pro-rated accordingly.
