The Red Cell Immunohaematology department provides reference and blood provision services to regional hospitals using advanced red cell immunohaematology techniques. The Biomedical Support Worker role is to provide support work to the department including sample processing and testing, reagent production, clerical support and cleaning.

To be considered you will need either, an A level or NVQ level 3 in a Science subject, hold or be working towards a Foundation Degree or have extensive experience of working within NHSBT.

From May/June 2020 you will be based at our new purpose-built site, Unit D, Capitol Way, Dodworth, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S75 3FG, which is just off Junction 37 of the M1. In the meantime, you will be based from Leeds, for which you may be eligible to claim expenses for the duration of this temporary arrangement. During this period the working pattern at Leeds Blood Centre is between 07.00 – 20.00 

The hours of work at Barnsley Blood Centre will be consist of a shift rota between the hours of 07.00 and 22.00 Monday to Friday and will include a rotational Saturday day time shift, expected to be a 1 in 3 frequency. A day off during the week will be given when a Saturday shift is worked. Enhanced hourly rates will be paid for unsocial hours worked in line with NHSBT policies.
