Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust provides a range of community health services for both physical and mental health conditions, as well as a range of specialist services supporting people of all ages including family and young people services, mental health, learning disabilities and physical health community and inpatient services.

We deliver services to the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Our 5500 staff serve a population of one million from over 100 sites across the region.


An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a friendly, high-achieving team dedicated to the delivery of high quality clinical research in the NHS.

The research delivery team at Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (funded by the NIHR Clinical Research Network) is co-located with the Trust R&D Office and Strategic Lead, and we pride ourselves on establishing robust feasibility and implementation plans to ensure that those Portfolio studies we host and run are delivered to “time and target” metrics.

The ideal candidate will be open to the challenge of maintaining and enhancing this reputation, through a high-level of self-motivation, a willingness to embrace diverse opportunities bringing their skills and experience to bear. We would also emphasise that although metrics are important, the greatest achievement we seek is the knowledge that what we do, can have a transformative effect on patient care and peoples’ lives.

The post-holder would also enjoy seeking out and developing new skills, and be able to demonstrate an affinity for staff and patients in often fast-moving or stressful environments.

This role is part of the “corporate” R&D Function, and is primarily targeted at supporting the full range of R&D Office functions (assess, arrange, confirm – sponsorship etc.) as well as the aims of the Trust R&D Strategy and the development of in-house research. This will include supporting the development of new research proposals, managing dissemination events, and guiding investigators through regulatory processes. The challenge of the role is ensuring that our non-portfolio research activity is subject to the same exacting standards as that from the Portfolio.

The post-holder will be a leader, but also able to be led, working either autonomously, as part of a small team or as a wider network. They will have positive experience of the realities of clinical and health services research, and would be able to demonstrate how they would meet those challenges.

This opportunity offers great flexibility, but also demands such from the holders of the role, and may involve work in any area of Trust business.

This role is open as a substantive, full-time appointment, and will be made permanent subject to successful completion of a probationary period.
