University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust provides a range of specialist services supporting people to recover from a range of physical health problems. The Cardiology Department at the Glenfield Hospital provides an outpatient Service for people to manage their cardiology treatment and maximise their recovery and rehabilitation outcomes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Health Psychologist to work in the adult Cardiology Outpatient Service at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester. This is an innovative post that will work in partnership with the Consultant Physicians to maximise the rehabilitation and treatment adherence for working age adults with cardiac problems.

This role has been expanded into a weekly service with supervision support allowing for a more consistent package of care and there is the possibly that the post will develop further in the future. In light of this change, the post holder will have the opportunity to contribute to planning the expansion of the service and making service developments. The post holder will undertake psychological assessments, formulations and interventions as part of an outpatient multidisciplinary team and will have opportunities to provide group and individual interventions to clients.

The postholder will link with existing Professional Supervisory support services that will lead and supervise the role providing senior, experienced Health Psychologist input to the postholder. The Service Manager/Lead will be within the Cardiology Team.

The post would suit a newly qualified psychologist, however someone who has experience of working in physical healthcare services and independent working may also find this role of interest.
