An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Infection Prevention and Control Team - We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, motivated and experienced, registered and qualified Infection Prevention and Control Nurse to take up a post within our Infection Prevention and Control Team.

The individual will be required to carry out audits, risk assessments, provide support to clinical areas and give expert advice to all Divisions of the trust including High, Medium and Low Secure environments, Local Division, Specialist Learning Disabilities Division and South Sefton Community Division on all aspects of infection prevention and control. The successful candidate must have excellent verbal communication skills and sensitivity when dealing with service users and carers who may have mental health issues and or learning disabilities.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide leadership and support and supervision to junior staff within the Infection Prevention and Control Team, as well as acting up for the Lead Infection Prevention and Control Specialist Nurse as required.

The post will require the collection and analysis of data, writing of reports and presenting to groups, excellent IT skills, experience using Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and web based applications are essential.

The successful candidate will already hold a recognised Infection Prevention and Control qualification - Management of an Infection Control Service or ENB 329 Equivalent and several years experience working as Infection Prevention and Control Nurse.

It is essential that the candidate is willing and able to study to develophis/her skills and knowledge through attendance on training courses attend conferences and to be involved in at external networking and seminars presenting and feeding back relevant information and learning to the Infection Prevention and Control Team.

You will be expected to represent Mersey Care NHS Foundation trust when working with other NHS trusts and agencies such as Public Health England, Clinical Commissioning Groups or NHS England always acting in a professional manner and upholding the trust values.

This post requires travelling to other trust premises other than the primary base location and therefore candidates must be able to get around the trust sites in a timely and efficient manner.
