This is a chance to work with the media on lifesaving campaigns. NHS Blood and Transplant is responsible for organ donation in the UK and blood donation in England.


The successful Communications Officer will primarily work to develop and manage relationships with local and regional media outlets. This will be a mix of one off opportunities, local campaigns, and the local delivery of national campaigns. They will also at times need to work across the wider communications mix, including internal communications, digital, social media, and stakeholder communications.


A key part of the job will be working with people whose lives have been effected by blood and organ donation, to share their stories to promote donation.


The post holder will handle a large and constantly changing workload in a busy environment. They need to handle local media enquiries and requests under pressure; providing communications support and advice to a range of individuals on a number of different levels as well as being adept at managing relationships with stakeholders both within and outside the organisation.


This post is a permanent post based at NHSBT’s centre on the site of St George’s Hospital in Tooting.
