Brief Description of the Role:


We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Community Research Co-ordinator to take a lead role in the recruitment of Born in Bradford’s Better Start (BiBBS), an established birth cohort study as a part of the Better Start Bradford Innovation Hub hosted by Born in Bradford ). This is a once in a life time opportunity to be part of an initiative which will have real impact on improving the life chances of young children in Bradford.

Better Start Bradford was awarded £49 million from the National Lottery to help parents give their children the best start in life. As a component of Better Start Bradford, the Innovation Hub unites leading academics from the Universities of York, Bradford and Leeds to establish a new birth cohort and provide a centre for evaluation of effectiveness of innovations aimed at improving health, well-being and language development in pregnant women and 0-3 year olds. The programme will combine the exciting potential of Better Start Bradford to transform the health and well-being of a new generation of children, with the world-leading expertise of the Born in Bradford research cohort.

The post-holder will work alongside the BiBBS Programme Coordinator and BiB Lead Research Midwife to co-ordinate the recruitment of 5000 pregnant women, their babies and partners and ensure that recruitment targets are met. This will involve managing a team of community research assistants, the day-to-day running of the BiBBS study and working with the BiBBS Programme Coordinator to develop new and innovative ways to enhance recruitment.

You will have previous relevant experience of working with families in a community setting and experience of managing a team. You will be organised and able to work under your own initiative to meet tight deadlines and targets as well as having an approachable and friendly manner. The post is fixed term for 1.5 years.
