  • Are you an excellent multi – tasker with strong organisational skills?
  • Would you like to play your part in putting patients at the heart of our quality improvement journey?

An excellent opportunity has arisen for the right person to join the Patient & Public Involvement (PPI) Team at Leicester’s Hospitals. You would be joining the team at an exciting time for patient and public involvement in the organisation. We have just launched a brand new PPI Strategy which promotes a closer collaboration with patients (Co-Production) in the work the Trust is doing to improve the quality of its services.

The key function of the PPI Team is to ensure that the Trust effectively engages with, and involves its patients and the wider public. We are responsible for leading public-facing engagement events on behalf of the Trust and for managing patient involvement internally. This includes managing a group of volunteers called ‘Patient Partners’ and providing advice and guidance to hospital staff. The Team also manage the Trust’s virtual public membership of 16,500+ members and organise regular public health talks. A core function of the team is to undertake regular outreach work within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland’s diverse communities.

We are a small, but friendly and supportive team and we are passionate about what we do. The team comprises one Patient and Public Involvement Manager and one Patient and Public Involvement Officer.

What does the role entail?

The purpose of this role is to provide high quality, comprehensive project support and administration to the Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Team. You will be expected to undertake a wide variety of tasks including; communicating with stakeholders, volunteers and staff at all levels in the organisation, assisting with planning the delivery of projects, organising meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, producing promotional materials, managing our public membership database and communicating regularly with members, collecting and analysing evaluation data, and developing and maintaining excellent administration systems and processes. While the role is primarily office based, the post holder will also be expected to undertake some community outreach activity. You will also be the first point of contact for a wide variety of patient representatives, staff and members of the public.

Who are we looking for?

There is a strong equality and diversity ethos underpinning the work of the PPI Team and we are keen to employ someone who shares our values. You will have very strong organisational and administrative skills and also bring creativity and an eye for detail to the role to ensure that we develop the best systems for the job and communicate with staff, patients and the wider public in an effective and engaging way. Given the importance of communication to this role we would expect your written communication to be of a high standard. The job would suit a “people person” with an inclusive and empathetic approach. If you are a skilled Social Media engager, that would also be an advantage.
