We are seeking an enthusiastic, well organized, individual who has an eye for detail to join our team in the Virology department at the University Hospitals of Leicester.

The Clinical Microbiology Department has a large and varied workload and processes in excess of 700,000 tests per annum in providing a comprehensive Microbiological service for the whole of Leicestershire. The virology department has a well-established and expanding molecular section; the laboratory is equipped with a variety of instruments / analysers including the Panther, Ausdiagnostics platforms, RotorGenes, VIDAS, Centaur and BEP 2000.


Duties will include: Carrying out laboratory analyses, including maintaining appropriate records and documentation, undertaking quality control procedures and examining quality control results to assess performance and report findings to Biomedical Scientist staff; participation in the operation, routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment; maintaining an adequate supply of laboratory consumables, reagents and equipment; ensuring that safe working practices are followed in accordance with Departmental Safety Policy and participating in the Quality Management processes as required.
