Are you a pharmacist looking to develop your clinical knowledge and skills? Cumbria, Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS FT are the new providers of mental health and learning disability services in North and West Cumbria. We are expanding our workforce to support the development and delivery of new clinical pharmacy services across our Cumbria locality and are looking for clinical pharmacists to join our team.

We welcome applications from pharmacist colleagues working in all sectors of the profession. Prior working experience in mental health is not essential. We take pride in developing our pharmacists through formal and informal study, clinical supervision and training. This includes opportunities to undertake post-graduate diplomas and the independent prescriber qualification.

Across the Trust we provide pharmacy and medicines optimisation services to all our mental health, learning disability and neuro-rehabilitation inpatient areas, as well as to community mental health teams, crisis teams, psychiatric liaison and a variety of other specialist areas. Pharmacy staff are regarded as valued members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Our clinical services include:

  • Medicines reconciliation and review on admission and discharge
  • Supporting patients and carers with the management of their medicines
  • Optimising medicines, taking a holistic view of both mental and physical healthcare needs
  • Physical health and wellbeing advice
  • Discharge planning and liaison with primary care

Our portfolio includes medicines supply, clinical pharmacy and clinical governance functions. We have an innovative and progressive approach to service design and delivery which has been recognised and commended by the Care Quality Commission, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and the Health Services Journal.

We are a research-active service, enjoying close working relationships with local Universities in teaching and research. We work collaboratively with other Trusts and commissioners across the region on areas of common interest.
