Brief Description of the Role:


We are looking for an experienced, skilled, enthusiastic, strong and effective leader to be part of the Born in Bradford team working specifically on the Bradford Local Delivery Pilot (LDP). The Bradford LDP is a major initiative which aims to improve health and wellbeing for children and young people in some of our low income areas in Bradford by promoting physical activity.

Born in Bradford (on behalf of Active Bradford) is one of 12 locations in England which has been chosen to work with Sport England to create innovative solutions to make it easier for communities to access sport and physical activity.

This is a once in a life time opportunity to be part of an initiative which will have real impact on improving the health and well-being of children and families. The post holder will part of the Born in Bradford (BiB) team (an internationally acclaimed applied research programme, the Bradford Institute for Health Research (a national centre for excellence in health research - and work alongside Active Bradford - a registered company made up of multi-sector organisations from across the Bradford district who are committed to working together to increase the number of people being active and playing sport in Bradford.

The Programme Director will be responsible for programme design and delivery elements of the LDP, providing operational and strategic leadership to a team of Community Engagement Managers and administrative staff. The post holder will be the senior manager providing leadership for the community and administration teams in the programme. The post holder will be responsible for liaising with Active Bradford members and other external partners.

The post holder will take a lead on the delivery and commissioning element of the programme working closely with strategic partners across the Bradford, using strong and effective leadership of the LDP programme to ensure all strategic partners are positively engaged with the programme.

This is a senior level post and it is essential the post holder will have the leadership experience and gravitas to be able to successfully develop and implement the programme. The post holder will have excellent communication, people management and project management skills and knowledge and will have the ability to work on their own initiative, reporting to a management board on a regular basis.


The initial contract will be until 31st March 2021 (with the possibility of an extension subject to funding).
