The NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is an integral part of the NHS. Operating a network of centres across England and North Wales, we collect around 2 million units of blood and tissues a year, converting them into safe and effective blood components, blood and tissue products for use in the treatments of patients.

You will handle a wide range of tasks, including the processing and issuing of blood donations and monitoring of storage equipment. You will have responsibility for ensuring that any incoming blood supplies are properly received and accounted for. This post involves access to certain equipment which may requires additional checks to be undertaken (irradiator checks).

To be considered you’ll need an A level or NVQ level 3 or equivalent, or extensive experience working in a logistics/supply chain environment, or of working within an NHSBT or hospital laboratory. Flexible in your approach and a good team player, you must be able to keep clear, accurate records.

The normal working hours for this role are 37.5 hours per week, working a 5 week rolling rota including 2 weekends.

 

From May/June 2020 you will be based at our new purpose-built site in Barnsley (Capitol Park, Higham Lane, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S75 3FG) which is just off Junction 37 of the M1. In the meantime you will be based from Sheffield for which you may be eligible to claim expenses for the duration of this temporary arrangement.
