Band 5 Full Time Substantive Post: 37.5 hours a week. Part time hours and flexible working patterns will be considered.

Exciting opportunities have arisen for dynamic and motivated Children’s Nurses to work within our expanding team of Nursing, Medical and other Health Care Professionals. The East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre is expanding and has Band 5 positions on our Cardiac Surgical Ward and Paediatric Intensive Care Units.

The East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre (EMCHC) is entering an exciting period following the fantastic news that EMCHC will continue to be commissioned to provide Level 1 surgical and interventional services we can now look forward to the growth and development necessary to continue to deliver excellence to our patients and make our service the centre of choice for the patients in the East Midlands.

We have worked hard to develop close relationships with the hospitals within our network to support and encourage referrals from their areas to us, and this partnership will continue to grow and develop over the next few years, with many opportunities for training, development and collaboration.

In order to meet the Congenital Heart Disease standards for co-location of paediatric services we have an exciting plan to move EMCHC at Glenfield Hospital to our main Leicester Royal Infirmary site and create a new bespoke centre by July 2019. The project for this work is well underway and is a fantastic opportunity for the Congenital Heart Disease team to craft how they will grow and develop within the wider Children’s Hospital at Leicester. This exciting move is this first step towards the completion of the Children’s Hospital Reconfiguration which will see all children’s services brought together in a standalone Children’s Hospital

EMCHC is also home to the largest ECMO centre in the U.K. with the only mobile ECMO service. We work hand in hand with this extraordinary team and are renowned for training and research in this area.

Joining now, you will be part of the team creating a centre of excellence within the East Midlands .

The post holder will have access to a wide range of bespoke education and development opportunities including SIMS training, supervision and a structured education programmes and continual professional development. Rotational posts across other clinical areas within Paediatrics are currently being developed to allow Nurses to experience a wide range of skills and knowledge. The post holder will be required to work shifts, and be an enthusiastic integral member of our well established and committed team. With of over 170 members of nursing staff within the East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre, delivering excellent quality care to our sickest children, you can be assured that you will be fully supported in your transition into our team
