Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) provides a range of community health, mental health and learning disability services for people of all ages. Delivered through over 100 settings from inpatient wards to out in the community, our 6,500 staff serves over 1m people living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

An exciting opportunity for a passionate, forward thinking and creative Band 6 Occupational Therapist within the Integrated Care Mental Health Service has arisen for:-

18.75 hrs per week 12 month fixed term contract to cover Maternity Leave.

Integrated Care Mental Health are a service based at Springfield Road Health Centre that provide a short term service (up to 12 weeks) within Leicester City.

Many of our Patients are aged over 65 and often either frail or have long term physical health conditions that impact on their mental health. In addition we also see Patients aged 18-64 where there is clear evidence of a long term physical health condition having a negative impact on their mental health.

The Service currently takes referrals from 29 Surgeries across the City with plans to expand further in the coming months.

You will be working as part of a small but dedicated team made up of one Band 7, 4 Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurses and 2 Healthcare Assistants.

The Team works closely with GPs, Care Navigators, Specialist Physical Health Nurses and District Nurses. The Team attends regular MDT meetings with GP surgeries and also has close links with Secondary Mental Health.

You will have access to MHSOPs wider OT team which offers opportunities for induction and in-service training holds a monthly Peer Support Group and an MHSOP OT service-wide Professional Development Forum.

We are committed to evidence based practice and the OT's use the MOHO Framework to inform assessment and intervention. You will be responsible for completing comprehensive initial mental health assessments and using your clinical reasoning skills to ensure that the most appropriate Integrated Care Clinician is involved. This may involve joint working alongside a nurse or health care support worker or you may be the sole clinician involved in the patient's care.

Your caseload will entail working with patients to promote their independence, maintain skills and reduce the impact of occupational deprivation. Our patient group will often have co-existing physical and mental health conditions, making our work varied and at times challenging but above all extremely rewarding.
