Band 8a Manager (Client Manager or Specialist Assurance Manager)

Agenda for Change Band 8a (£44,606 - £50,819)

37.5 hours per week

Based in Rotherham (Client Manager)

Based in Rotherham or Nottingham (Specialist Assurance Manager)

Do you value the NHS and want to support its continued improvement and development?

Do you have specialist knowledge and skills that could be used to help our NHS clients enhance their current systems and processes, increasing both their performance and their value for money?

Do you have an interest in governance and risk management, as well as other topics that are crucial to how organisations are run?

Have you ever thought about using your knowledge, skills and experience to work for an NHS shared service and thereby benefiting multiple NHS organisations across a large geographical area?

360 Assurance is an NHS service, hosted by Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, providing internal audit and independent assurance services to NHS clients in South Yorkshire and the East Midlands. We are looking to appoint an experienced manager, who may or may not have experience working within internal audit.

You will work at a senior level within the organisation, supporting the relevant Assistant Director.

The role will see you add value to the NHS by providing evidence-based feedback on current systems and processes and proposing practical recommendations and solutions to support busy NHS organisations as they seek to perform to the highest standards possible.

Positions within 360 Assurance at a Band 8a fall into two categories: Client Manager or Specialist Assurance Manager. We have a current Band 8a vacancy and would like to invite applications from individuals who meet the criteria for either the Client Manager post (with significant experience of Internal Audit) or the Specialist Assurance Manager post (with specialist knowledge and skills in one of our key assurance areas - see attached document for further information).

Candidates applying against the Specialist Assurance Manager job description should have the relevant qualifications, skills and experiences in relation to: Partnership Working (e.g. supporting STP/ICS development); Financial Management; Information Management; Performance & Information; Clinical Quality; People Management or Governance & Risk Management and use of the term ‘specialist area’ within the job description refers to one of these areas.

If this post was filled by an individual meeting the Client Manager job description the post will be based in our Rotherham office. If this post was filled by an individual meeting the Specialist Assurance Manager job description the post could be based in either Rotherham or Nottingham.

Good verbal and written communication skills are essential, as are confidence and self-discipline. Candidates will be required to build strong relationships with colleagues and clients and be able to work on their own as well as part of a team. The candidate will be able to adapt and prioritise as workload requires, and will ensure timely delivery of quality reports.

We offer a competitive salary and full Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions. You will benefit from being an NHS employee with the option to join the NHS pension scheme and the opportunity to join the NHS lease car scheme, as well as NHS discount schemes. We offer highly-valued flexible working arrangements and are an equal opportunities employer.

360 Assurance operates within South Yorkshire and the East Midlands with offices across these areas. Although based at one location, travel across the client base will be expected. You will need to be a car driver to enable travel between NHS and other locations across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire (use of public transport is unlikely to be practical for this post).

For an informal discussion, please contact Elaine Dower (Assistant Director – Specialist Assurance) on 07342 081522 or Ruth Vernon (Assistant Director – Internal Audit: South Yorkshire) on 07775 007153.

Candidates will be required to go through a two part recruitment process that will include as a minimum an interview, an aptitude test and a presentation.

We are committed to providing the best care that we can to our patients, and so some of our roles involve a Maths and English assessment. Where this is so, details will be shared with you as part of the recruitment process.

Details of our benefits, pledge and other important information about the application process, and working for us is contained in the documents linked to our advert.

For areas where our teams work to staffing rosters, rosters are set in advance at a team level and you will be joining an established roster. Your rostered shifts will be confirmed to you when arranging your start date. We will consider requests to vary working patterns in line with our flexible working policy.

To make the most of your application, we may consider successful applicants for vacancies for the same post in different locations where this is appropriate and meets our mutual requirements.

For all substantive roles the appointment of every new member of staff (excluding medical and dental staff) to a post is subject to a 6 month probationary period, details of which are in our Probation Policy.

We aim to develop a workforce that reflects our service users. To this end we actively implement equal opportunities in employment and service delivery and seek people who share our commitment. We strongly encourage applications from all sections of the community, particularly from underrepresented groups, including members of our black and minority ethnic communities. All jobs will require permission to work in the UK.

For all jobs the cost of undertaking a DBS disclosure at the required level will be met by the individual. This will be deducted from salary following commencement.

Requests from applicants to work alternative hours to those advertised may be considered.

Applicants who are currently ‘at risk’ within the local NHS, and meeting essential criteria will be given preference for interview over any other candidates who may apply for this post.
