Information Security Manager

Job Reference: 918-IM4438

Employer:
NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT)
Department:
Information Security
Location:
Birmingham
Salary:
£37,570 - £43,772 pa

Cyber Security is still relatively new as an industry, yet all organisations now have a higher bar to secure their digital assets through law and sector best practice. Protecting valuable data has always been baked into the Healthcare culture – and takes on new levels of importance because of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT). Both have transformed the way NHSBT now thinks about Cyber Security.

NHSBT is a progressive and bold organisation, leading an extensive transformational Digital Services agenda, alongside which we are now expanding our Cyber Security Team. This team audits, advises and enhances Cyber Security capability at NHSBT, providing the organisation with insight and assurance.

From your very first day, you will be actively engaged in the large Cyber Security agenda at NHSBT to provide the assurance and support that this fascinating organisation needs. Your skills will grow across many disciplines as you help NHSBT on their Cyber Security journey, working with real people, with real world problems. You will share your own insight of how to protect the work our people are doing, to obey the law, and in line with industry/sector Best Practice. More importantly, you will be listened to.

Whether reviewing policies or Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIA’s), auditing data, or writing processes and procedures, the whole array of your communication, listening and influencing skills will be leveraged to get robust outcomes for this heavily-regulated organisation.

Working ‘at pace’ you will be confident, clear, non-judgemental, and assuring. You will develop and champion the rich Cyber Security agenda. You will also be a self-starter, and capable of prioritising and reprioritising at a moment’s notice. Whether leading a Security Incident Response Team, advising Board at meetings, meeting with our external stakeholders, or sitting on our Information Governance Committee – your voice will be heard, considered, and acted upon.

If you care as passionately about your work as we do, and if you understand that ‘good enough never is’, then we want to hear from you because in our business, we save lives.
