Band 2 Occupational Therapy Assistant

25.5 hours including bank holidays and weekends on a rota basis

The Therapy service at the Leicester General Hospital has the opportunity to recruit a part time (25.5 hours per week) Occupational Therapy assistant to work within the Therapy team. This post will be based at Leicester General Hospital, working alongside qualified Therapy staff to provide treatment for Elective Orthopaedic patients within an acute hospital setting.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Occupational Therapists, assisting them to assess and treat patients undergoing major joint replacements, upper and lower limb elective orthopaedic surgery, trauma, spinal surgery and amputations. Our purpose is to enhance the patient’s functional independence and safely discharge from hospital.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in a competency-based training programme to allow them to carry out particular treatment techniques with patients under the guidance and supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist. The post holder will be expected to carry out administration tasks, maintenance of equipment and its stock levels and general cleaning duties within the Therapy team.

You must have equivalent of Grade C or above at GCSE in English and Maths. Clerical experience and the ability to use computers are desirable in this post.
