University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust provides acute and specialist paediatric services for Leicester and the surrounding hospitals in the South East Midlands including: allergy, congenital heart disease, endocrinology, ENT, gastroenterology, haematology, neurology, NICU, oncology, paediatric surgery, PICU, and respiratory medicine.

Applications are invited for a whole-time Locum Consultant in General Paediatrics with a specialist interest in Cardiology. This post is a newly developed post within UHL to support the ongoing care of our paediatric patients cross site, working closely with the general paediatric team and neonatal team to ensure effective delivery of care to the paediatric cardiology patients. This will help support the current substantive team of NHS and academic staff of the East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre and The Childrens hospital.


The successful appointee will be expected to participate in the paediatric consultant of the week rota (including on calls for telephone advice), outpatient clinics, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and clinical audit. They will be required to undertake management duties and work in a multidisciplinary team. As this post is regulated by the Protection of Children Act 1999, The Criminal Justice Courts Act 2000 and / or the Care Standards Act 2000 an enhanced police criminal records disclosure will be requested by the Trust in the event of a successful application.
