Our nationally and internationally-renowned specialist treatment and services in cardio-respiratory diseases, cancer and renal disorders reach a further two to three million patients from the rest of the country.

We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic staff to work as Band 6 Senior physiotherapists in part of our exciting and specialised cardio-thoracic, surgical and respiratory physiotherapy teams. We provide a comprehensive physiotherapy service to patients with a wide range of conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings across the three hospital sites: Glenfield Hospital, Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital.

These roles are suited to experienced band 5 physiotherapists who have completed core medical, respiratory and surgical rotations, or experienced physiotherapists with an interest in cardio-thoracic, respiratory and surgical physiotherapy who would like to pursue their career in these areas.

This is a rotational post. You will have the opportunity to work within the following clinical specialties: thoracic surgery, cardiac surgery, paediatrics, ECMO, cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis, respiratory medicine, HDU, acute non-invasive ventilation and complex ventilation, cardiology, renal, general surgery, maxillary-facial surgery, adult critical care, respiratory outpatients (bronchiectasis, hyperventilation, breathing retraining and chronic cough control).

You will be part of a friendly, supportive and proactive team, with a full induction and mentorship programme, CPD and service development. Audit and research are strongly encouraged.

The successful applicants will work alongside the Therapy Clinical Team Leaders, Clinical Specialists, other senior physiotherapy staff and the multidisciplinary team to provide optimum patient care and the effective, efficient working of the teams ensuring on going service development.

You will provide teaching and supervision for physiotherapists, physiotherapy students and members of the multidisciplinary team working within the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and participate in the training of staff working on calls and weekends/bank holidays.

You will be required to work weekends, bank holidays and on-calls with appropriate competency training given.
