Business Manager - NIHR Leeds Clinical Research Facility


Are you an innovative, dynamic and enthusiastic manager with experience in a research/clinical trials setting ? You may have a background in the commercial sector, industry, the NHS or academia and be looking for your next career move, if so we would love to hear from you as we have an exciting opportunity to lead the business management function for the Leeds Clinical Research Facility.


You will work autonomously, whilst being part of the of the core CRF management team and the wider Research and Innovation business development team and will have the opportunity to work with internal and external stakeholders, including commercial partners, Clinical Research Organisations (CROs) and academic partners.


We are also looking forward to the opening of our new Clinical Research Facility in summer 2019 which will present unique opportunities to work alongside our commercial partnerships manager to maximise business development.


About us: NIHR Leeds Clinical Research Facility carries out high quality early phase and experimental clinical trials to help new treatments and tests reach patients more quickly. We work with industry, research councils and charities to run over 300 early stage, experimental or complex trials each year. We provide a welcoming, professional and safe environment for patients taking part in our trials, supported by clinical services within Leeds Teaching Hospitals. Our work includes a wide range of disease specialties, including research in paediatrics, neuroscience and gastroenterology, but we have particular expertise and a strong track-record in the following areas:

• Cardiovascular research: heart failure and coronary disease,

• Musculoskeletal research: conditions such as arthritis and rheumatism,

• Oncology research: cancers that involve solid tumour,

• Haematology research: including cancers of the blood

• Oral and dental health: conditions affecting the mouth and teeth

• Paediatrics: diseases in children

If you are offered a position, you may be required to undertake a DBS. The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £48 or Standard £30) from your salary over a 3 month period (including Internal staff). You will also be required to participate in the DBS Update Service and pay the £13 cost per year. This is a condition of your employment. For Band 1 roles the Trust will pay the cost of the DBS checks and refund to you the cost of the update service. DBS checks for volunteers are free.

LTHT will request electronic Factual Employment References from your previous employers. These references will be requested before you are issued with an unconditional offer of employment letter.
