Honorary Professor of Medicine & Consultant in Acute & General Medicine

Applications are invited for a new and strategically essential post which will lead a programme of excellence in clinical service delivery and education for Acute and General Medicine. The post has been developed jointly between the Trust (serving the one million residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland) and the University of Leicester (one of the top universities worldwide and with an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research). The appointee will hold both an Honorary Chair in Medicine at the University and be a Consultant post in Acute and General Medicine at the Trust.

The appointee will take a leading role in championing the development and of both undergraduate and postgraduate Medical Education within the Trust along with the delivery of Acute and General Medical care. To facilitate this a 10 PA job plan is available inclusive of 5 SPA for Education/Academic Work, 1.5 SPA for revalidation purposes and 3.5 DCC.

Applicants must already be on the GMC specialist register and must have an established track record of providing both high quality clinical care and education or research with a strong plan to develop these further. An Educational Qualification is essential for this role.

As this post is regulated by the Protection of Children Act 1999, the Criminal Justice Courts Act 2000 and / or the Care Standards Act 2000, an enhanced disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) will be undertaken.
