Glenfield Hospital, Respiratory Medicine Wards.

Full or Part Time Internal Rotation

A number of opportunities have arisen for Registered Nurses to join our team at Glenfield Hospital working as a Staff Nurse in the Respiratory Medicine Specialty.

All training including a full induction will be provided therefore prior experience is desirable but not essential, a desire to learn and share our values is all we ask. We have an excellent track record of supporting registered nurses from outside the acute sector such as nursing homes or community care to gain acute inpatient NHS medical experience as they have many transferrable skills that are appropriate to the care of our patients.

We care for medical respiratory patients with both acute and chronic conditions and have a variety of wards and units. Patient centred, individualised care is at the centre of everything that we do.

All wards support a number of advanced practice initiatives such as educating Trainee Associate Practitioners and Trainee Nursing Associates and are consistently evaluated very highly by learners.

A comprehensive induction package is offered by the ward staff supported by the education and practice development team based at the UHL academy on site, this includes experiences of Adult intensive care, Thoracic Specialist Nurse Service, Asthma Nurse Service and Respiratory Physiology.

Respiratory Medicine is part of the wider Renal, Respiratory, Cardiac and Vascular management group (RRCV). Glenfield Hospital (GH), is RRCV’s main administrative site and is located approximately three miles from Leicester City Centre on a spacious campus. This site will eventually be the hub of all specialty acute services in Leicester.

The campus has its own emergency ambulance bay and helipad, modern specialty theatres and intensive care units are also based on this site. GH campus is a regional centre for clinical research with both Respiratory and Cardiac Biomedical research units based here and has close links with both the University of Leicester and DeMontfort University.
