The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is one of the largest Trusts in the country and, due to service expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Imaging with Ionising Radiation scientist to join our multidisciplinary Nuclear Medicine and Leicester Radiation Safety Service (LRSS) teams at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. The post will be split with 4 days/week in the Nuclear Medicine department and 1 day/week in LRSS covering CT. Both services cover activities across the three Leicester Hospital sites: Leicester Royal Infirmary, Glenfield Hospital and Leicester General sites and also provide support to the onsite Alliance Medical PET-CT centre.

The Nuclear Medicine service has 4 gamma cameras (two with SPECT/CT capability, one solid state cardiac camera and one general purpose camera due for replacement) and provides MPE support for the Alliance run PET-CT centre. The department also operates a non-imaging service, an on-site radiopharmacy and an expanding molecular radiotherapy service which has just started Lu-177 therapy for treatment of neuroendocrine tumours.

LRSS provides advice and support for both ionising and non ionising radiation throughout the 10 NHS hospitals in Leicestershire, private hospitals, GP dentists, vets and others.

We support research and development within the Trust, have links with local Universities and are an accredited training centre. Candidates must be a qualified Clinical Scientist, registered with the HCPC, and entitled to act as an MPE in Nuclear Medicine. Applicants with less experience will be considered for appointment at a lower grade.
