Certificate of Eligibility of Specialist Registration (CESR) Rotations in Obstetrics and Gynaecology/ Senior Clinical Trust Fellow

We at University Hospitals of Leicester are seeking people whose career goal is to become consultants in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

The post is intended to provide the clinician with the support and training required to successfully complete all aspects of the CESR process. It will provide regular sessions exposing the successful candidate to all specialist and sub-specialist aspects of obstetrics and gynaecology relevant to educational and competency needs.

Support will be given to obtain competencies in core and advanced skills in obstetrics and gynaecology as set out by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. There will be a specifically-designed training and teaching package for all successful applicants and there will be a designated Consultant supervisor for the duration of the rotation who will guide completion of the CESR portfolio.

From a clinical perspective these posts will participate in the 24 hour on-call rota. In addition, the posts offer protected time for the development of enhanced specialist competencies via completion of advanced training skills modules (of which, UHL provides training for all RCOG ATSMs)

The rotation is initially offered on a fixed term contract for 12 months after which we would envisage extension on a mutually agreed basis. The post holder must be registered with the GMC and hold a licence to practice.

We will close vacancies prior to the published closing date if we receive a sufficient number of completed application forms.

Preference will be given in the first instance to existing NHS employees within the East Midlands healthcare community who are ‘at risk’ of redundancy. Such employees within the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust will be considered first.”
